Ki-Ai
KiDS

Our children's class is structured around traditional martial arts from the Okinawan Style. Children from the ages of 7 - 13 learn traditional forms and basic movements that build strength and balance. While learning forms, otherwise known as "Kata", they develop excellent confidence in themselves as they build on their ability to memorize the movements and then be able to make the forms come to life.

Each child learns the proper way of how and when to use self-defense techniques taught within this class structure. Students are taught different options to help keep them safe, knowing that a physical confrontation is only a last resort.

Children continue building confidence through learning karate movements, setting goals and practicing. As each child learns a new technique or form they continue to overcome obstacles and challenges that are set before them.

The Ki-Ai KiDS program is also based on an 8 week promotional period, guiding each student to the next belt level. Each belt level has specific criteria for the student to accomplish in order to achieve the next belt rank level. Once the student reaches black belt he becomes a Junior Black Belt until the age of 16 at which that time he can test out for Adult Black Belt.

We encourage our students to be the best that they can be and continually instill what we call:

THE 5 MAXIMS OF KARATE

  • CHARACTER
  • SINCERITY
  • EFFORT
  • ETIQUETTE
  • SELF-CONTROL

We want your child to have the confidence to make the right choices in school as well as in life. We believe your child can build that confidence through our martial arts program.

My initial reason for signing my son, Justin, up for Karate was the hope of building his self-confidence. He was 5 years old and a little shy and timid to try anything on his own. I heard about the OSK School a couple times and decided maybe this was what he needed. After only a month or so he did a complete 180 and now he is anything but shy. Justin is 7 now and his second grade teacher says he's the leader of his class in a very positive way. Not only is his self-confidence great, so is his self-discipline, his memory, his ability to concentrate, his balance and his over all fitness. He also excels in school; he takes third grade math and reading classes as a second grader. He has been at the OSK School for 2 years and looks forward to each class with intense enthusiasm. Justin's sister, Kara (5) and brother, Logan (4) have also become members of the OSK School and are also starting to reap the many benefits the school gives.
